All the pictures of this hunt were taken within 1 1/2 hour period on the last day of our hunting in Hawaii this January. It was the only trip I got my wife to go on and take pictures. You will see a lot of dogs on point. That's because the bird numbers are ridiculous. With good dogs, it's hard to go a few minutes without finding birds. The bird we are hunting is called Francolin. There are also California quail, pheasants, chukars, etc. on different parts of the island depending on terrain/elevation/climate etc. The Francolin is a strong flying bird about 50% larger than a nice, fat quail. There is a picture of one below. We built this page in chronologial order from when we started the hunt to when my wife headed out so we don't have the very end of the hunt pictured. Hunting Francolin in Hawaii is the most amazing wing shooting that I have ever done (and I've hunted just about everything here stateside). It's world class shooting and as you'll see, the views are spectacular. You can see the ocean in the background of a lot of the pictures. You can see it all the time when you are there.
That being said, pic 1 and 2 here are of us loading up the mule and getting ready. To shorten the page, the captions will do a lot of the story telling from here on.
